Mobile App

Use olllo on your phone as a Progressive Web App (PWA) for quick accomplishment capture, even when offline.

Installing the App

olllo works as a Progressive Web App, giving you a native app experience without downloading from an app store.

On iOS (iPhone/iPad)

  1. Open olllo in Safari (required - other browsers won’t work)
  2. Tap the Share button (square with arrow pointing up)
  3. Scroll down and tap “Add to Home Screen”
  4. Name the app (default: “olllo”) and tap Add
  5. Find olllo on your home screen

Note: You must use Safari on iOS. Chrome, Firefox, and other browsers don’t support PWA installation on iOS.

On Android

  1. Open olllo in Chrome (recommended) or another supported browser
  2. You’ll see an “Install App” banner or prompt
  3. Tap Install to add to your home screen
  4. Alternatively, tap the menu (three dots) and select “Install app” or “Add to Home screen”

Mobile Navigation

The mobile app features a streamlined two-row header designed for touch interaction.

Header Elements

  • Menu button (hamburger icon): Opens the navigation drawer with all app sections
  • Logo: Tap to return to dashboard
  • Help button: Opens contextual help for the current page
  • Breadcrumbs: Shows your location and enables quick navigation back
  • Page title: Current page name

Swipe from the left edge or tap the menu button to access:

  • Your Journey: Accomplishments, Reflection
  • Data: Contacts
  • Support: Documentation, Feedback

Quick Capture

The floating action button (FAB) lets you capture accomplishments from anywhere in the app.

Using Quick Capture

  1. Tap the + button in the bottom-right corner
  2. Enter your accomplishment text
  3. Use @-mentions for people and companies
  4. Choose an option:
    • Refine now: Start STAR refinement immediately
    • Refine later: Save as draft for later
    • Cancel: Discard and close

FAB Visibility

The FAB automatically hides when you scroll down to give you more reading space, and reappears when you scroll up.

Offline Mode

olllo works even without an internet connection. Capture accomplishments anytime, anywhere.

Offline Indicator

When you lose connection, you’ll see an offline indicator at the top of the screen.

Saving Offline

When offline, quick capture shows different options:

  1. Tap the + button
  2. Enter your accomplishment
  3. Tap Save locally - your draft is stored on your device
  4. When you’re back online, drafts sync automatically

Sync Status

After reconnecting, you’ll see your drafts syncing:

  • Syncing: Your offline drafts are being uploaded
  • Synced: All drafts are safely stored on the server
  • Failed: Some drafts couldn’t sync (tap to retry)

Touch Gestures

The mobile app supports intuitive touch gestures.

Swipe Actions

On the accomplishments list, swipe left on any item to reveal actions:

  • Refine: Start STAR refinement for draft items
  • Delete: Remove the accomplishment

Pull to Refresh

Pull down on any list to refresh the data.

Troubleshooting

App Won’t Install

iOS:

  • Make sure you’re using Safari - other browsers don’t support PWA installation
  • Ensure you’re on iOS 11.3 or later
  • Try clearing Safari cache and reloading

Android:

  • Try using Chrome if another browser doesn’t show the install prompt
  • Clear browser cache and reload the page
  • Check that Chrome is updated to the latest version

Offline Drafts Not Syncing

  1. Check your connection: Ensure you have a stable internet connection
  2. Check sync status: Look for the sync indicator - it shows pending drafts
  3. Manual retry: If sync failed, tap the sync status to retry
  4. Clear app data (last resort):
    • Go to browser settings
    • Find olllo in site data
    • Clear cache (not all data - this preserves your login)
    • Reload the app

Lost Offline Data

Offline data is stored in your browser’s IndexedDB. Data can be lost if:

  • You clear all browser data
  • You uninstall the PWA completely
  • The browser clears old data due to storage pressure

Prevention tips:

  • Sync regularly when you have connection
  • Don’t clear browser data for olllo
  • Keep the app installed (uninstalling may clear data)

App Feels Slow

  1. Close and reopen: Force-close the app and relaunch
  2. Check for updates: Refresh the app to get the latest version
  3. Clear cache: Clear the app cache (but not all data)
  4. Reinstall: Remove from home screen and reinstall

Header or FAB Not Showing

  • Rotate device: Sometimes rotating helps reset the layout
  • Scroll: Try scrolling up - the FAB appears when scrolling up
  • Reload: Pull down to refresh or close and reopen the app

Can’t Scroll on Mobile

If content appears cut off or won’t scroll:

  1. Try rotating your device
  2. Close and reopen the app
  3. Clear app cache and reload

Tips for Mobile Use

Battery Optimization

  • The app uses minimal background resources
  • Syncing only happens when the app is open
  • No background location or notification drain

Data Usage

  • Initial load: ~500KB (cached after first visit)
  • Sync: Only changed data is uploaded
  • Images are optimized for mobile

Best Practices

  1. Capture immediately: Use quick capture when accomplishments happen
  2. Refine on desktop: Detailed STAR refinement is easier on larger screens
  3. Sync before traveling: Ensure drafts are synced before going offline for long periods
  4. Keep the app installed: Uninstalling may clear offline data
